7 transfer swaps that need to happen this window featuring Marcus Rashford and Viktor Gyokeres
7 transfer swaps that need to happen this window

With less than three weeks remaining before the summer transfer window closes, Premier League clubs could still seek out swap deals. Everton recently sent Dwight McNeil to Crystal Palace for Brennan Johnson in a like-for-like exchange.

Arsenal and United swap proposal

Myles Lewis-Skelly could move to Manchester United in exchange for Marcus Rashford. Arsenal have strong competition at left-back, with Riccardo Calafiori, Piero Hincapie and Jurrien Timber all capable, which pushed Lewis-Skelly into midfield last season. He played admirably, but Bruno Guimaraes' arrival at the Emirates will reduce his minutes further, and reports claim he has been offered to both United and Chelsea.

Arsenal need a skilful left-winger, and Rashford, who wishes to leave Old Trafford this summer, fits the bill. Michael Carrick wants a left-back, and Lewis-Skelly is young, homegrown and could help free up Rashford's wages.

Gyokeres and Alvarez in the mix

Viktor Gyokeres could be used as a makeweight in Arsenal's pursuit of Julian Alvarez. Since arriving from Sporting CP last summer for an initial £55m, Gyokeres has scored 21 goals across all competitions last term. Alvarez would cost upwards of £112m, so a fair chunk of money would need to be attached to the deal.

Tottenham's Lucas Bergvall and Barcelona's Ferran Torres are also linked in a potential swap. Bergvall wanted to leave Spurs this summer after Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes were signed for a combined £185m, but things have been ironed out with manager Roberto De Zerbi. A £46m offer from Newcastle was supposedly turned down. Torres is reportedly PSG-bound, but Barcelona's long-term interest in Bergvall could lead to a last-minute hijack.

Other speculative trades

Omar Marmoush could be swapped for Eric Garcia, with the Egyptian forward set to leave Manchester City after Pep Guardiola's departure. Garcia progressed through City's youth system before leaving for free in 2021 and has become a solid deputy for Barcelona. A small fee may be included on Barcelona's side as Marmoush is worth more.

Joshua Zirkzee wants to leave United, with Juventus, Roma and Como reported suitors. If Como is his destination, United could request Alex Valle in the deal. Zirkzee is valued at a reported £20m, and Valle would come in at slightly less. Valle made 28 league appearances for Como last season, helping them qualify for the Champions League.

Chelsea could move for Lewis Dunk, with Marc Guiu valued at around £20m and expected to leave the Blues. Dunk is keen to stay at Brighton but could be tempted by one last hurrah at the top table. Brighton could do with attacking reinforcements, and the arrival of Luka Vuskovic means losing Dunk would not be a disaster.

Gabriel Jesus could be swapped for Amir Rrahmani, with the Brazilian striker set to join Napoli after falling out of favour behind Gyokeres and Kai Havertz. A £17m deal has been mooted, but Rrahmani has been crucial to Napoli's recent successes, helping them to the Serie A title in 2022/23. He boasts elite passing ability and exceptional aerial dominance that Arsenal would be lacking without William Saliba.
