Scots have been partying in Boston over the last couple of weeks, making a great impression on locals. Many Americans now don't want the Tartan Army to leave. While some expected chaos, the Scots have shown remarkable cleanliness and respect.
City Worker Impressed by Tartan Army
In a recent TikTok video by NBC10 Boston, a city worker shared his surprise at the Tartan Army's drinking culture and tidiness. He said: "They deep man and they can drink too. What! Are you kidding me? They must got no water over there in Scotland." Speaking about cleaning up after approximately 2,000 people, he added: "After they're gone, I'm one person cleaning up after them and it ain't that bad. They conducted themselves with class, dignity and they like our city. So I'm happy they came."
American Praise on Social Media
Many Americans praised the Scots in the comments. One wrote: "Scots, the U.S. loved having yall!! It was like a breath of fresh air despite how chaotic our country has become!!" Another added: "Scot's are class, they came, drank and cleaned the place up after them - what a support." A third simply said: "Scottish people are amazing."
Fan Explains the Respect
Scottish football fan John Kaylor explained why visitors cleaned up: "It does look clean. The boys have tidied up. Nobody likes leaving a mess. It happens sometimes, but the people of Boston have been really nice to us and I think it's just a bit of respect. It costs nothing to be respectful. It costs nothing to be nice and just tidy up a bit of rubbish before you go."
Bar Owner Shocked by Transformation
One bar owner told a local radio station: "We've been here for over 30 years. We've never seen anything like it. We tripled St Patrick's Day over the weekend with the Scottish visitors. They brought back fun, that was lost." The bar ran out of beer on Sunday, June 15, and re-stocked ahead of Scotland's next match.
Scotland's celebrations intensified after their first World Cup win since 1990, beating Haiti. They still face Morocco on June 19 and Brazil on June 24.
