Carlos Alcaraz has debuted a fresh haircut days after his Wimbledon final victory over Novak Djokovic, earning widespread approval on social media. The world No 1, who ended Djokovic's decade-long unbeaten run on Centre Court, showcased his new trim during his Hopman Cup debut in France.
Alcaraz had let his hair grow throughout Wimbledon but opted for a cut immediately after securing his second Grand Slam title. Fans quickly took to social media to praise the change, with one user tweeting: 'I was telling my wife during the Wimbledon final that Carlos needed a new haircut and he listened to me!' Another commented: 'I was saying this all through Wimbledon! Maybe he wasn’t cutting his hair to not jinx it.'
The new look did not immediately translate to success on court, as Alcaraz lost the first set to David Goffin in his Hopman Cup match before rallying to win in three sets. He later defeated Borna Coric, though Spain had already been eliminated from the tournament by that point.
Following the Hopman Cup, Alcaraz is expected to rest before the North American hard-court season, which includes the Canadian Open in Toronto and the Cincinnati Open. His focus will then turn to defending his US Open title, which he won last year by beating Casper Ruud in the final.
