Waterworld in Stoke-on-Trent has refuted claims that a four-year-old girl who died after an incident at the water park was in the wave pool. The youngster was found in critical condition on August 4, 2025, and later died in hospital.
The park issued a statement saying the incident did not take place in the Wave Pool and that no waves were operating at the time. Waterworld confirmed it has cooperated fully with authorities and was permitted to reopen on August 6.
Other parents had reported their children getting into difficulty in the wave pool, but Waterworld stressed that safety procedures are rigorous. The park welcomes around 250,000 visitors annually and noted that an audible siren sounds before waves start, with a sloped beach entry for visibility.
Police have not confirmed the cause of death and have urged the public to avoid speculation on social media.
