Gabby Logan's Son Rejects Wales and England to Play for Scotland
Gabby Logan's Son Snubs Wales and England for Scotland

Gabby Logan's son Reuben has chosen to represent Scotland in rugby, rejecting both Wales and England. The 20-year-old back-row forward, who previously played for England U18s, made his Scotland U20 debut last year and is committed to playing for his father's nation.

Reuben's Rugby Journey

Reuben Logan, the son of BBC Sport presenter Gabby Logan and former Scotland rugby star Kenny Logan, has opted to follow his father's heritage. He featured for England U18s but always aimed to play for Scotland. Speaking after his Scotland U20 debut, he said: "I was immensely proud to put on the shirt... I always had in the back of my mind the main goal, which is obviously [playing at Murrayfield]."

Family Heritage and Decisions

Gabby Logan, born in England to Welsh football legend Terry Yorath, competed for Wales in rhythmic gymnastics at the 1990 Commonwealth Games. She married Kenny Logan in 2001, and their twins Reuben and Lois were born in 2005. Reuben's decision to play for Scotland mirrors his mother's choice to embrace her father's heritage, as Gabby represented Wales.

Pressure to Switch to Wales

During a podcast with Sam Warburton, Gabby revealed that at her father Terry's funeral earlier this year, Welsh rugby fans urged Reuben to switch allegiances to Wales. She said: "We had a lot of Welsh people at the service... they'd had a pint or two and were asking Reuben if he'd consider switching allegiances." However, she added: "To be fair to Reuben, he's been Scottish since he was born."

Kenny Logan's Reaction

Gabby joked about her husband Kenny's difficulty cheering for Reuben when he played for England U18s. "Kenny was not quite sure how to cheer for him that day. He used to just shout, 'Come on Reuben,' and I'm like, 'You can't just say come on Reuben,' and he was like, 'I can't say come on England.'"

Current Career

Reuben signed a two-year contract with Sale Sharks ahead of the 2025/26 season and has appeared in four Premiership Rugby matches. He previously played for Northampton Saints and made two appearances before joining Scotland's U20 Six Nations squad.
