British wildcard Arthur Fery takes on No. 9 seed Flavio Cobolli in the Wimbledon quarter-finals on Centre Court, aiming to extend his fairy-tale run and become the first British man in the semi-finals since Andy Murray in 2016.
Fery's Remarkable Journey
The world No. 114 has already secured at least £480,000 in prize money and will rise into the top 70 of the rankings after reaching his maiden Grand Slam quarter-final. The British No. 3 has come from behind in consecutive matches, defeating recent Eastbourne Open champion Zizou Bergs and former world No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov on his Centre Court debut.
Fery, who turns 24 on Sunday (men's finals day), said it would be “even cooler” to spend his birthday contesting the championship match. For now, he remains focused on Cobolli, whom he stunned in the first round of the Australian Open earlier this year after coming through qualifying. The Italian was unwell that day, and Fery has admitted he expects a “very, very difficult and different” match.
Match Preview and Live Updates
The quarter-final is scheduled after the women's singles quarter-final between Marta Kostyuk and Jasmine Paolini, which Kostyuk won 6-3 in the first set. Follow live game-by-game updates below.
Cobolli, the No. 9 seed and recent French Open runner-up, will be eager to avenge his Australian Open loss. The Italian has been in strong form on grass, but Fery's confidence is high after his Centre Court heroics.
