Olympic champion Adam Peaty Ramsay and his new wife, Holly Ramsay, have swapped the beaches of Mauritius for the poolside in Romania, heading straight to a high-energy swimming competition after their honeymoon.
From Honeymoon to High-Octane Competition
The couple, who married in late 2024, recently returned from a relaxing break in Mauritius, a wedding gift from Holly's parents, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tana. They have now embarked on a new journey, flying economy on a commercial flight to Romania.
Adam, 31, is set to compete in the unique Sprint With The Stars event, where amateur youth swimmers race against elite international champions in a 50-metre sprint. In a sweet social media snap, a fresh-faced Holly, 26, smiled in a black Alo jumper, while Adam sported Ray-Ban shades and a black T-shirt.
The pair announced their trip online, writing: 'Taking off for Romania @sprintwiththestars, here we come!'
A Wedding Overshadowed by Family Strife
This new chapter comes against a backdrop of ongoing family tension. The couple's Bath wedding was reportedly overshadowed by a bitter dispute that led to Adam's own mother, Caroline Peaty, being barred from the service. His sister Bethany was the only family member from his side in attendance.
The rift appears to have widened following the wedding. Gordon Ramsay referred to himself as 'dad' in a comment on Adam's wedding video, where the swimmer declared he would 'always choose' Holly. An insider told The Sun this has dashed hopes of a near-future reconciliation, stating Adam's family feel he has 'picked his side'.
Further controversy arose from Gordon's father-of-the-bride speech. It was reported he made a comment interpreted as a dig at Adam's absent parents, telling Holly: 'Shame you don't have the same.' Caroline Peaty was said to be 'outraged' and 'hurt', believing the remark was a 'pre-planned' and 'cruel' swipe.
Gordon has since defended his speech, telling ITV's This Morning it was 'perfect and warm'. Holly also defended her father, telling British Vogue she felt 'overwhelmed with happiness' during his words.
Moving Forward Amid Heartache
While the couple focus on Adam's sporting career, the emotional fallout continues. Caroline Peaty, from the family home in Staffordshire, expressed profound grief at missing her son's wedding, telling the Mail on Sunday: 'I'm not going to be hurt like this again.'
Moments before the ceremony, Adam reportedly received a devastating text from an uninvited aunt, Louise, which read: 'Remember on this, your happiest day... that you hurt your mum so deeply her soul screams.'
The roots of the conflict are traced back to September 2024, when wider Peaty family members were not invited to the couple's engagement party. Caroline was also not included in Holly's hen do at Soho Farmhouse, which was attended by Victoria Beckham and Tana Ramsay.
As Adam dives back into competition in Romania, supported by his new wife, the path to healing this very public family rift remains uncertain.
