Richard Rowe, a 47-year-old rugby player, English lecturer, and author, has passed away. He played for Deri Minis, Penallta, Fleur, and Oakdale, and taught at Coleg Gwent. In 2007, he published 'The A-Z of Welsh Rugby', a humorous look at the sport.
Charity Work and Tributes
Rowe volunteered with Helping Caring Team, aiding the vulnerable and homeless in South East Wales. The charity remembered him as "funny, clever, kind, wicked" with an "abundance of empathy for everyone." His former club, Penallta, posted a simple tribute: "Richard Rowe. Penallta Legend. 1979 - 2026."

Friend Phil Morris wrote on Facebook: "Thinking of a dear friend today... A genuinely special human being and news of his loss today has caused a wound that many of us will carry until our final day comes." Blackwood Little Theatre also paid tribute, noting his award-winning play 'The Tobacco Tin' and his significant contributions.
Rowe once said of his book: "I had the idea of writing a humorous book... It's based on my own memories and accounts from fellow players."
