Tom Kim produced a bogey-free final round of 64 to win the Scottish Open on Sunday, securing his first title in 1,001 days. The 24-year-old South Korean finished two shots clear of Min Woo Lee at the Renaissance Club, becoming a Rolex Series winner for the first time.
Kim's Dominant Final Round
Kim birdied three times on the front nine to put himself in contention and added three more birdies on the back nine, including a crucial one on the 16th that gave him a two-shot lead heading into the final two holes. He closed with a simple par on the 18th to seal the victory.
It was Kim's fourth PGA Tour title, following wins at the Shriners Children's Open in 2022 and 2023 and the 2022 Wyndham Championship. The victory also guarantees him a spot at the 2027 Masters.
Contenders Falter
England's Matt Fitzpatrick and Scotland's Robert MacIntyre shared the lead entering the final day but both shot one-under-par 69s, finishing tied for third alongside Johnny Keefer and Keita Nakajima, four shots behind Kim.
Lee missed a birdie putt on the 17th that effectively handed Kim the title. Despite the missed opportunity, Lee remained positive. “I’m just happy with the week and obviously a win would have been nice,” he said. “But it was one of the first weeks that I was just happy with myself mentally.”
McIlroy's Strong Finish
Rory McIlroy showed promising form ahead of the Open Championship at Royal Birkdale next week. He carded five birdies in his first seven holes en route to a final-round 64, matching his lowest score of the season, and finished tied for seventh with Michael Thorbjornsen.
Kim Reflects on Victory
After securing the win, Kim told Sky Sports: “This one is up there. I played probably as good as I could have with the pressure and executed when I needed to. I’m very proud for being calm out there. This is awesome. There were a lot of key moments. I am trying to get better each day. I’ve had a tough couple of years and I got to taste a lot of humble pie and learn about myself. I’ve still got a long way to go but I wanted to dedicate this to the people in my corner all the time. To all those people I’d like to say thank you.”
