Georgia Stanway believes Arsenal is the right place for her to win more trophies and further improve her game after completing her move to the north London club on a free transfer.
Stanway returns to WSL after Bayern stint
Stanway, who helped Bayern Munich win four consecutive Frauen-Bundesliga titles, has moved to Arsenal following the end of her contract with the German club. “It’s an unbelievable feeling and I’m so proud to be joining Arsenal,” said the 27-year-old England midfielder. “This is a massive club that is driving the women’s game forward to new levels and I want to be a part of it. I want to win trophies and grow as a player, and this is the right place to do that with the backing of an incredible fanbase.”
Proven winner at international level
Stanway has played 93 times for England, scoring 33 senior international goals, and was a key part of the Lionesses sides that won the 2022 and 2025 European Championship titles, as well as the side that reached the 2023 World Cup final, cementing her name into the history books as one of England’s most successful midfielders.

She brings strong leadership, character and competitiveness and I know our supporters will enjoy watching her play in red and white.”
Renée Slegers, Arsenal’s head coach, labelled Stanway a “brilliant midfielder”, adding: “We’re thrilled that she is an Arsenal player. She will add a new dimension to our midfield, bringing experience and adding to our winning mentality. We look forward to getting down to work in pre-season ahead of a big campaign ahead.”
Previous success in England
Stanway began her career with Blackburn before joining Manchester City in the summer of 2015, where she made 186 appearances and scored 67 goals in seven seasons, lifting one Women’s Super League title, three FA Cups and three League Cups.
