Jordan Spieth Unveils WAGs' Masters Dinner Tradition

Jordan Spieth has provided an intriguing glimpse into the activities of partners of previous Masters winners during the prestigious Champions Dinner. The 2026 edition of the iconic tournament at Augusta National Golf Club is scheduled to commence this Thursday, but the week is packed with events both on and off the course.

Alternative Tradition for Spouses

Via the Masters YouTube channel on an episode of 'Under The Umbrella', Spieth detailed the plans for his wife Annie Verret and other spouses. He explained, "On Tuesday night when I go to the champions dinner, Julie Krenshaw (Ben Krenshaw's wife) puts together a dinner for some of the ladies of the champions."

Spieth described it as a pseudo date night, where couples go their separate ways upon arriving at the club but reunite later. He added, "We meet up after I go down and they're always hooting and hollering downstairs, whoever is hosting."

Unique Build-Up to the Tournament

The golfer expressed his affection for the distinctive pre-tournament atmosphere, noting, "That's kind of a fun one, then you go the par 3 on Wednesday and all of a sudden it is tournament time. Once it starts, nothing really feels too different, but that Monday through to Wednesday there is something special on each day."

The Champions Dinner has garnered significant attention recently, with golf enthusiasts curious about the seating arrangements. Scottie Scheffler and Adam Scott have shared their perspectives, and Spieth concurred that sitting with Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus is not an option.

Seating Dynamics and Notable Absences

Spieth previously commented on the seating, saying, "It's kind of like 6th, 7th grade. If the teacher they have assigned seats you get all bummed, and if they let you sit wherever you want you end up sitting in the same spot anyways. It's kind of the same deal."

He highlighted a specific area where players avoid sitting, stating, "There's a certain section on the far side from where we sit where you don't sit, because it's Jack and Tiger. And that's where Arnie [Palmer] was."

However, Woods' seat will remain empty this year after he confirmed he would be taking a break from golf following his car accident. The 50-year-old was charged in late March with driving under the influence and has pleaded not guilty.

Other Absences and Tournament Favourites

Phil Mickelson is another former champion who will not be attending Augusta due to personal reasons. Among the favourites to win are Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, and Bryson DeChambeau.

With the pressure off, Rory McIlroy, who won the Green Jacket in 2025, will be aiming to become only the fourth golfer to achieve back-to-back victories at the Masters.
