Former rugby league icon Kevin Sinfield is lacing up his running shoes for a sixth monumental fundraising effort, dedicating his latest challenge to raising awareness for Motor Neurone Disease (MND).
The Ultimate Challenge: Seven Marathons in Seven Days
The endeavour will see Sinfield attempt to complete seven ultra-marathons over the course of seven consecutive days. The gruelling schedule is set to commence on 1 December 2025. In a poignant twist, Sinfield has revealed that each day's run will include an extra mile, symbolising the ongoing fight and the additional steps needed to support those affected by the condition.
A Journey for the MND Community
The epic challenge will begin its journey in Bury St Edmunds, building towards a festive finale described as a "Santa dash" in Leeds. This final leg holds deep personal significance for Sinfield, as Leeds is the city where he achieved legendary status during his storied career with the Leeds Rhinos.
Sinfield's incredible marathon exploits began after his former teammate and close friend, Rob Burrow, was diagnosed with MND in 2019. The rugby world mourned when Burrow passed away at the age of 41 in June 2024, a tragedy that has further fuelled Sinfield's determination to combat this disease.
The primary aim of this year's challenge is to bring the MND community together, offering hope and rallying public support for continued research and care. Through physical endurance and sheer willpower, Kevin Sinfield continues to be a powerful beacon in the fight against Motor Neurone Disease.
