Feyi-Waboso Declared Fit for Premiership Final After Jaw Surgery

Exeter Chiefs have received a major boost ahead of Saturday's Premiership final against Northampton Saints at Twickenham, with winger Manny Feyi-Waboso declared fit to play. The 23-year-old England international underwent facial surgery just two weeks ago to insert a plate in his jaw, but has been given the green light by medical staff.

Exeter's director of rugby, Rob Baxter, confirmed that the decision was ultimately made by the player himself, with England's medical team offering no objections. 'All the information is very, very positive,' said Baxter. 'It's not like there's damage that needs protecting so let's get on with it now.'

Feyi-Waboso has been training in a red bib to avoid contact, but Baxter is confident he is ready. 'He's been running around so is fully ready to go,' he added. The winger's enhanced England contract required approval from the national management, but Baxter stressed that the player drove the decision.

Exeter are also set to welcome back back-row Ethan Roots, who missed the semi-final win over Bath due to head injury protocols, while wing Campbell Ridl has recovered from a bruised knee. The Chiefs, who finished ninth last season, are underdogs but Baxter insists they will attack the game. 'Winning the final's not the hard part, the hard part is getting here,' he said.

Exeter's last Premiership final appearance was in 2021, when they lost narrowly to Harlequins. Northampton are favourites, but Baxter warned: 'We've got to fight in all areas. It's about making sure we attack as well.'
