Laitia Moceidreke, 27, a centre for the Souths Logan Magpies, has been formally charged with grievous bodily harm following an incident in Brisbane's southern suburbs. The altercation allegedly erupted from a dispute over a car sale, culminating in catastrophic consequences.
Catastrophic Outcome From Domestic Dispute
The court heard that the victim, a 31-year-old man, was allegedly assaulted during a meeting at a residence on Wattlebird Street in Calamvale on August 17. What began as a routine private sale negotiation descended into violence, leaving the younger man with severe spinal injuries.
Emergency services rushed to the scene following reports of an assault. Queensland Police confirmed the victim sustained serious injuries that have resulted in paraplegia—a permanent paralysis from the waist down.

Moceidreke, who has previously played for the Melbourne Storm's feeder team and represented Fiji at an international level, now faces proceedings that could end his sporting career. The athlete appeared briefly in Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 12, where the matter was adjourned until October.
