Ospreys 31-14 Dragons: Player ratings from Welsh derby

The Ospreys kicked off their tenure at St Helen's with a 31-14 victory over the Dragons on Saturday. Here is how every player rated out of 10.

Backs ratings

Tom Rogers scored 7 against Huw Anderson's 5. Rogers was solid in difficult conditions, though not quite player of the match material like his last outing against the Dragons. Anderson, a late call-up after wing Jared Rosser pulled out, was decent enough despite a couple of moments of overplaying early on.

Iestyn Hopkins (6) was a willing chaser under the high ball and got more chances with ball in hand later on. Dragons full-back Anzelo Tuitavuki (6) had a mixed game, beating defenders and scoring but botching another try and fumbling a kick-off into touch that led to the Ospreys' penalty try.

Owen Watkin (7) was defensively sound as the Ospreys kept the Dragons at bay. Fetuli Paea (6) was busy before injury struck late on, a blow for the Dragons if he is sidelined. Keiran Williams was not rated after going off early through injury, while Aneurin Owen (5) saw his evening marred by a yellow card for a high tackle, in the week he was called up by Wales.

Keelan Giles (6) and Rio Dyer (6) had a running battle, with Dyer's mazy run that saw Giles bundle him into touch hinting at more. Dyer's injury will be a worry. Dan Edwards (7) was rewarded for ambition with his kicking, while Tinus de Beer (5) was messy and was sin-binned for illegally sacking a maul.

Forwards and replacements

Reuben Morgan-Williams (8) took his two tries well as he prepares to head into Wales camp with a chance of establishing himself in the matchday 23. Rhodri Williams (5) played the conditions well and set up Dyer's score but was sent to the sin-bin early in the second half.

Gareth Thomas (7) did typical defensive work around the park, while Dillon Lewis (6) made a nice break but couldn't get a try-scoring pass away. Sam Parry (7) saw his lineout become a weapon and scored his 50th try for the club, with Elliot Dee (7) giving an all-action performance. Tom Botha (7) pressured the Dragons' scrum without reward.

Rhys Davies (7) outplayed namesake Seb Davies (6), who was recalled by Wales this week and was close to double figures in tackles and carries. Rhys was key to the Ospreys' pack being on top, nullifying any maul threat. Ryan Smith (8) was brilliant despite a few penalties, while Ben Carter (6) had a frustrating night with ankle and head injuries.

Liam Wright (7) showed his lineout expertise and got through a fair bit of work, while Barny Langton-Cryer (6) was up there for tackles but didn't carry much. Harri Deaves (7) set the tone with a breakdown penalty 50 seconds in, and Harry Beddall (7) was a good carrying option off the base of the scrum. Morgan Morris (7) made 22 tackles, with Shane Lewis-Hughes (7) taking the ball into contact more than anyone.

Among the replacements, Ross Moriarty (7) scored, fitting given the name's association with St Helen's. Huw Sutton (7) had a good breakdown turnover for a penalty late on. Lalakai Foketi (7) gave the Ospreys' attack another dimension, while Fine Inisi (6) made a great tackle to stop Iestyn Hopkins scoring late on.
