Nic White retires from international rugby

Australian rugby stalwart Nic White has officially called time on his international career, bringing the curtain down on a remarkable 12-year tenure with the Wallabies.

The 33-year-old scrum-half, known for his tenacity and tactical nous, confirmed his decision to step away from Test rugby after earning 63 caps for Australia.

A Career of Grit and Glory

White made his international debut in 2013 against the British and Irish Lions, quickly establishing himself as a mainstay in the Wallabies' setup. His career highlights include representing Australia at two Rugby World Cups (2015 and 2019) and playing a pivotal role in numerous Bledisloe Cup campaigns.

"It's been an absolute honour to wear the Wallabies jersey," White said in a statement. "While it's never an easy decision to step away, I'm proud of what I've achieved and excited for the next chapter."

Club Career Continues

While retiring from international duty, White will continue playing for the Western Force in Super Rugby Pacific. The experienced halfback remains under contract with the Perth-based franchise through 2025.

Wallabies coach Joe Schmidt paid tribute to White's contribution: "Nic has been the ultimate professional - his work ethic, leadership and passion for the game set an example for every player."

Legacy of a Rugby Warrior

White's retirement marks the end of an era for Australian rugby. Known for his combative style and pinpoint box kicks, he formed memorable halfback partnerships with the likes of Bernard Foley and Quade Cooper.

His final international appearance came in Australia's bronze medal match at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, where he came off the bench against England.
