The son of BBC broadcaster Gabby Logan and former rugby international Kenny Logan is quickly becoming a towering figure in the world of rugby. Reuben Logan, who recently celebrated his 20th birthday, is already making a significant physical impact on the pitch.
A Formidable Physical Presence
Standing at an impressive 6ft 5in and weighing 18st 1lb, Reuben Logan possesses a physique that would place him in the same boxing weight class as heavyweights Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. His rugby journey began with Northampton Saints in 2023, before he made the move to Sale Sharks earlier this year. It is his sheer size, however, that has recently captured widespread attention online.
How Logan Measures Up Against Rugby's Giants
While he may be shorter and lighter than Australia's colossal lock Will Skelton, who stands at 6ft 8in and weighs nearly 23 stone, Logan matches the height of another rugby behemoth. He is the same height as France's Uini Atonio, a player who holds the record for the largest jersey ever issued to a French international—a staggering 9XL. At 35, Atonio's official measurements are a challenging benchmark. When compared to Tonga's Ben Tameifuna, Logan is five inches taller, though Tameifuna retains the title of the sport's heaviest player at a colossal 24 stone.
Following in His Father's Footsteps for Scotland
In a significant career decision, Logan recently switched his international allegiance. After previously representing England at U18 and U20 levels, he chose to pull on the dark blue jersey of Scotland for the U20s Six Nations. This move follows the legacy of his father, Kenny, who earned 70 caps for Scotland over an 11-year international career.
The young back row forward revealed that his decision brought immense pride to his father. "Yeah, he's pretty happy, I think," Reuben explained. "I think he pretended when I was with England that he was happy with it, but he really wasn't, and he's made that very clear now. He struggled with it, and I think he's [now] very, very happy. He's excited."
His mother, Gabby, was equally moved. Logan shared that seeing his media photos in the Scotland kit brought her to tears, as it reminded her of seeing his father wear the same thistle emblem.
After signing a two-year contract with Sale Sharks in April, the club's director of rugby, Alex Sanderson, outlined the rationale behind the acquisition. "He is 120kgs and played on the wing. He is a big unit that can shift," Sanderson said, highlighting Logan's unique combination of size and speed. He also noted that Logan's self-driven attitude, likely nurtured by his two ex-professional sporting parents, was a significant asset for the club's future.
