Exclusive Code and Amiloc Headline Newsboy's York Tips

Newsboy has selected Exclusive Code as the tip for the 1.50 Sky Bet Mile Handicap at York, with the horse aiming to add another big prize to his CV after a victory at Glorious Goodwood.

The three-year-old son of Blue Point finished fourth in a novice stakes at Newbury and a maiden at Goodwood last summer, the latter on soft ground. He returned from a 259-day break to win a 25-runner maiden at Newbury in April. Trainer Archie Watson then considered the Britannia Handicap at Royal Ascot, but a draw in stall three ended that challenge early. Exclusive Code finished 13th behind Moonfall, coming home third of the 15 horses racing towards the far side, which was a decent effort. He then went off as the 2-1 favourite for the one-mile handicap for three-year-olds at Glorious Goodwood, where James Doyle's mount won by one length from Zennor Storm. Despite being on 4lb worse terms for the rematch, Newsboy expects him to stay ahead of the runner-up. Bearish, the progressive winner of his handicap debut at Ayr last time, is expected to go well, while Le Samourai and St Anton also appeal.

Amiloc Seeks Redemption in Lonsdale Cup

For the 2.25 Weatherbys Lonsdale Cup, Newsboy tips Amiloc, who was involved in a calamity at Glorious Goodwood and should enjoy better luck today. Unbeaten as a two-year-old in 2024, Postponed's son continued his upward curve under Ralph Beckett last season, winning on his first two starts before taking the Group 2 King Edward VII Stakes at Royal Ascot. He then finished second, four lengths behind Al Riffa, in the Irish St Leger at the Curragh and fourth in the Breeders' Cup Turf at Del Mar. Amiloc flopped as the 8-13 favourite for the Group 2 Yorkshire Cup in May but his sixth to Giavellotto in the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot was much better. He attracted support for the Group 1 Goodwood Cup, his first attempt at two miles, 24 days ago but lurched left leaving the stalls and unshipped Hector Crouch, who makes way for Rossa Ryan. He must prove his staying power but shapes as if he will last the distance. Caballo De Mar is feared most, ahead of Carmers and Mount Atlas.

Arapaho Gold and American Affair Feature in Sprint Races

In the 3.00 Al Basti Equiworld Dubai Gimcrack Stakes, Newsboy tips Arapaho Gold, who is unbeaten and fancied to stay that way. Trained by Michael Dods, the son of Bayside Boy began his career in a five-furlong maiden at Thirsk in May, winning easily by two and a half lengths from Kodiak Breeze. He was withdrawn from a race at Beverley four weeks later after rearing in the stalls but returned to Thirsk to justify odds of 2-9 over six furlongs in July. He then won the Listed Rose Bowl Stakes at Newbury, making it 3-3 by holding Nabati by a neck. Adaay In Scarlett, Marco Polo and Mussab are the best candidates for the podium.

For the 3.35 Coolmore City Of Troy Nunthorpe Stakes, Newsboy selects American Affair, back at the peak of his powers and aiming to double his Group 1 tally. The Jim Goldie-trained speedster won the Portland Handicap at Doncaster in September of the previous year and enjoyed a strong 2025 campaign. He beat Jm Jungle for the Scottish Sprint Cup Handicap at Musselburgh in April, had the same rival second in a similar event at York in May, and then won the Group 1 King Charles III Stakes at Royal Ascot by a neck from Frost At Dawn. Plans for the Nunthorpe and Breeders' Cup were shelved when the son of Washington DC suffered a bone injury in a fetlock joint. His return in 2026 included defeats on his first four outings but he roared back to winning form in the Group 2 King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood, beating Rumstar by half a length. Market leaders Rayevka and Bacio have something to recommend them, with two-year-old Pershaada and Redorange also in the mix.

Primo Lara, Lancaster Tower and Electrifarhh Round Out Tips

In the 4.10 Assured Data Protection Handicap, Newsboy tips Primo Lara, who has rediscovered his form but remains well handicapped on his old marks. The chestnut son of New Bay was on the up for Jane Chapple-Hyam in 2024, winning a handicap debut at Chelmsford City in May and another over York's extended 10 furlongs 16 days later. A setback led to 154 days off and a 12-race losing streak before winning at Wolverhampton at the beginning of last month. Switching back to Chapple-Hyam, he marked his first attempt at a mile and a half with a defeat of Masterinthewoods at Ascot last time. A 7lb rise to a BHA mark of 86 still leaves him 5lb shy of his peak figure. Master Builder, Say What You See and Explode warrant respect.

For the 4.45 British Stallion Studs EBF Convivial Maiden Stakes, Newsboy tips Lancaster Tower. Owned by the King and Queen and trained by John and Thady Gosden, the colt is by Kingman out of the 2019 French 1,000 Guineas winner Castle Lady. He went off as the 5-6 favourite to beat five opponents at Sandown Park 23 days ago, finishing third, a length and three-quarters behind subsequent Listed winner Quest For Stars. He travelled with menace before his lack of experience took its toll and is expected to improve. Oklahoma, Launch Sequence and Speyside are taken to fight for the minor medals.

In the 5.20 Sky Bet EBF Fillies' Handicap, Newsboy tips Electrifarhh as worth a try at a mile and a quarter. The daughter of Farhh is four years old and having her seventh career outing. She won a novice stakes for fillies at Kempton Park in October 2024 but was limited to one start last season, finishing second to subsequent Group 1 winner Blue Bolt at Windsor in May 2025. The Ed Walker trainee needed her first outing for 313 days when seventh of nine at Kempton last March and was sixth to River King at Newbury next time. At Glorious Goodwood last time, sent off at 18-1, she and Kieran Shoemark came home with gusto to take third, beaten a nose and three-quarters of a length behind Rumba Numba. The step up in distance is a logical move and a 2lb nudge up the weights should not prevent another decent effort. Janey Mackers, Naga and favourite Silver Lake sit at the top of a lengthy shortlist.
