Henry Arundell scored two tries, including the decisive one in the final play, as Bath came from behind to beat Saracens 38-28 and secure a Champions Cup quarter-final spot. The win sets up a home tie against Northampton on Friday night.
Bath trailed 10-0 at half-time after a disjointed first half, with passes going to ground and the lineout misfiring. Saracens took the lead through scrum-half Charlie Bracken's try, but the introduction of prop Thomas du Toit after the break transformed the home side's scrum.
Arundell sparked the comeback with a 40-metre try in the 44th minute, and Joe Cokanasiga put Bath ahead despite being a man down. Captain Ben Spencer added a spectacular solo try, but Saracens fought back through Max Malins and Noah Caluori to set up a tense finish.
Ollie Lawrence's try stretched Bath's lead, but Caluori's late score brought Saracens within three points. However, Arundell sealed the win with his second try in the dying moments after a sustained forward drive.
Bath director of rugby Johann van Graan praised du Toit as "one of the best players in the whole of rugby", while captain Ben Spencer acknowledged the need for improvement: "Sometimes in knockout rugby, you just need to get the job done." Saracens director Mark McCall expressed pride despite the loss, noting his team's Jekyll-and-Hyde season.
