Adam Peaty Draws Inspiration from Gordon Ramsay for Olympic Comeback
Olympic champion Adam Peaty has publicly praised his father-in-law, celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, as a significant source of inspiration as he sets his sights on the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. The 31-year-old swimmer, who recently married Ramsay's daughter Holly in December 2025, shared insights into how Ramsay's work ethic and business acumen are guiding his athletic journey.
Peaty's Focus on the 2028 Games
Peaty, a three-time Olympic gold medalist and three-time silver medalist, confirmed his commitment to compete in the 2028 Olympics after the 50m breaststroke event was added to the schedule. This decision follows a period of uncertainty, as he nearly quit swimming before and after the 2024 Paris Games. Now back in action at the British Championships this week, Peaty acknowledged that the next two years will be "the hardest of my career", but he is drawing strength from Ramsay's mentorship.
Guidance from a Culinary Icon
In an interview with BBC Breakfast, Peaty elaborated on Ramsay's influence, stating, "[He's] very inspiring. I think for him, it's obviously a very different way of life in terms of the business he has to do and the businesses he has to run. I take a lot of guidance. I look up to him a lot ... in [terms of] sport, he knows the game is the game, that it doesn't lie. But it will humble you and you've got to work hard for those results. I know that whatever I learned through sport, those are the skills I can take into the rest of my life as well."
Building Towards LA 2028
Peaty expressed his excitement for the upcoming Olympics, saying, "The Olympics is the one that excites me. That is the one that really gets me out of bed every day, the one I dream of." He emphasized the importance of preparation, adding, "We have to set that path now. Two years out, it is about how much racing and experience can we gather to give the best performance in LA." This renewed focus marks a pivotal moment in Peaty's career as he aims to add more medals to his collection.
