German actor and bodybuilder Vittorio Pirbazari, known for his role in the Netflix series Dogs of Berlin, has died after collapsing on a treadmill at a gym. He was 44.
Pirbazari, also known as Vito, had posted a selfie on Instagram the day before his death on Monday, showing his progress after a 12-week break from exercise following a serious car crash in January. The crash had left him with a fractured spine, tissue damage, and leg stitches.
Fellow actor Said Ibrahim announced the news on Instagram, suggesting Pirbazari may have suffered a heart attack. He wrote: 'Vito had a soft heart like a 10-year-old.'
In his final post, Pirbazari told his 90,700 followers: 'My current form after 12 weeks without exercise... I'm happy to be back in the gym at all and am focusing entirely on leg training and cardio.' He added that he was taking it slowly due to his legs not being fully healed.
Tributes have flooded the post, with one fan writing: 'RIP Champ.' Another said: 'Didn't want to believe it at first, I'm shocked.' A friend initially thought the news was an April Fool's Day joke, later realising it was true.
