Verstappen Pays Tribute After Driver Dies in Nürburgring Pile-Up

Max Verstappen has expressed his shock following the death of Finnish driver Juha Miettinen in a multi-car crash at the Nürburgring 24-hour race in Germany. The accident involved seven cars, bringing the race to a halt. Miettinen was airlifted to the medical centre but died despite resuscitation attempts.

Verstappen, who was due to compete but not driving at the time, posted on Instagram: “Shocked by what happened today. Motorsport is something we all love, but in times like this, it is a reminder of how dangerous it can be. Sending my heartfelt condolences to Juha’s family and loved ones.”

Race officials confirmed the death in a statement, saying the other six drivers involved were not in life-threatening condition. The race was not resumed on Saturday, and a minute's silence is planned before Sunday's race.
