The 154th Open Championship is officially underway at Royal Birkdale, with gates opening for one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year. Thousands of spectators have already arrived at the seaside town in Southport to witness the action. For those without tickets, Sky Sports is providing extensive live coverage throughout the week.

The tournament features a stellar lineup, including defending champion Scottie Scheffler and Southport native Tommy Fleetwood. The 35-year-old Fleetwood is aiming to become the first English player to win The Open since Sir Nick Faldo in 1992. Other top golfers are also competing for the coveted Claret Jug.
TV Coverage Details
Sky Sports is broadcasting 75 hours of live coverage over the seven days of tournament week. Coverage began at 9am on Monday, July 13 on Sky Sports Golf for the three practice days. For the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday, broadcasts start at 6.30am. According to Sky Sports, there will be at least 15 hours of action from each of the first two rounds, with bonus feeds available on Sky Sports+ or the Sky Sports App. Extended coverage on Saturday, July 18 starts at 9am, and on Sunday, July 19 at 8am.
