Lando Norris delivered a commanding performance to win the Austrian Grand Prix, holding off McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri in a tense battle. The British driver's victory closed the gap to Piastri in the championship to 15 points, reigniting his title hopes.
The race was overshadowed by Max Verstappen's early exit after being hit by Kimi Antonelli's Mercedes on the opening lap. The world champion now trails Piastri by 61 points, with Red Bull struggling for pace against McLaren.
Norris and Piastri fought fiercely throughout, exchanging positions multiple times. McLaren cautioned Piastri after a near-miss at turn four, but Norris maintained control to secure his third win of the season.
Norris credited a front-suspension upgrade for improved car feel, saying: 'It was a tough race, pushing the whole way through. We had a great battle, a lot of fun.' Verstappen described his crash as 'just unlucky' and accepted that Red Bull is not currently winning.
