Lando Norris Slams Oscar Piastri After Belgian GP Clash: 'He Ruined My Race'
Norris slams Piastri after Belgian GP collision

McLaren's Lando Norris has openly criticised teammate Oscar Piastri after their dramatic collision during the Belgian Grand Prix, accusing the rookie of costing him valuable points in the championship race.

The incident occurred early in the race at Spa-Francorchamps when Piastri attempted an ambitious move on Norris, resulting in contact that sent both cars off track. While both drivers managed to continue, Norris was left fuming over the lost opportunity.

Norris Doesn't Mince Words

"He just ruined my race," Norris told reporters post-race. "I had great pace today and we could have challenged for a podium. That kind of move from a teammate is unacceptable."

The British driver, who eventually finished seventh, made it clear he expected better from Piastri despite the Australian's relative inexperience in Formula 1.

Team Tensions Rise

McLaren team principal Andrea Stella now faces the challenge of managing tensions between his drivers as the team enjoys its most competitive season in years. The Woking-based outfit currently sits fourth in the constructors' championship.

Piastri, for his part, defended his actions: "I saw a gap and went for it. These things happen in racing - we'll discuss it internally and move on."

Verstappen Dominates Again

Meanwhile, Red Bull's Max Verstappen continued his dominant season with another commanding victory, his eighth consecutive win. The Dutchman now holds a 125-point lead in the drivers' championship.

The Formula 1 circus now moves to Zandvoort for the Dutch Grand Prix on August 27, where McLaren will hope to put this incident behind them and continue their impressive 2023 form.
