Horrific Crash at Demolition Derby Leaves Nine Injured

Emergency services were called to a scene of chaos at the Walcha Motorcycle Rally on Saturday evening after a competing vehicle crashed through a fence and struck a mobile grandstand. The incident, which occurred at approximately 6:15pm, left nine people injured, with one man fighting for his life.

Police confirmed that the crash happened at the rally ground in Walcha, a town situated roughly 420 kilometres north of Sydney. Upon receiving reports of the accident, paramedics and other emergency crews were dispatched to the location. Bystanders immediately rushed to assist the victims before professional help could arrive, providing crucial initial aid to seven men and two women.

The ages of those injured ranged from 20 to 75. Among them, a 54-year-old man sustained critical injuries. A further three people were reported as being seriously injured. All casualties were initially transported to the Walcha District Hospital for treatment.

In a significant development following the initial emergency response, the four most seriously injured patients were scheduled to be transferred to major hospitals overnight for more specialised care. The condition of the critically injured man remains a primary concern for authorities.
