Lewis Hamilton's difficult Hungarian Grand Prix took another turn for the worse when he received a five-second penalty late in the race for speeding in the pit lane. The seven-time world champion had already endured a frustrating weekend, missing out on pole position to Lando Norris and then being handed a three-place grid penalty for impeding Oscar Piastri during qualifying.
Penalty Ends Podium Bid
Despite the setbacks, Hamilton fought his way into podium contention. However, his charge was halted in the final laps when stewards issued the five-second penalty. Moments earlier, he had been told to give position to Kimi Antonelli after exiting the pits. The penalty ultimately dropped him to fifth place, behind his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc.
Hamilton reacted angrily over team radio, calling the punishment "crazy" and criticising the number of penalties being imposed during the race.

Norris won the race at the Hungaroring, with Max Verstappen finishing second. Antonelli's third-place finish extended his lead over Hamilton at the top of the drivers' standings. Formula 1 now heads into a summer break, with the next race scheduled at Zandvoort, Netherlands, on August 23.
