Lewis Hamilton Slams Ecclestone & Horner Over Controversial Comments
Hamilton criticises Ecclestone & Horner over F1 diversity

Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has publicly criticised former F1 boss Bernie Ecclestone and Red Bull team principal Christian Horner over their recent comments on diversity in the sport.

Hamilton, a vocal advocate for greater inclusivity in motorsport, described their remarks as "disappointing" and "out of touch with modern values".

Hamilton's Fiery Response

The Mercedes driver didn't hold back when addressing Ecclestone's suggestion that diversity initiatives weren't necessary in F1. "It's sad to hear these outdated views from people who've shaped our sport," Hamilton stated. "We've made progress, but there's still so much work to do."

Horner's Comments Spark Backlash

Hamilton also responded to Horner's claim that Red Bull's success proves F1 is already meritocratic. "One team's achievements don't reflect the whole picture," Hamilton countered. "Look at the paddock - how many Black engineers or team principals do you see?"

The Push for Change

Since founding the Hamilton Commission in 2020, the British racing star has been instrumental in pushing for greater diversity in motorsport. His initiatives have already led to:

  • New apprenticeship schemes for underrepresented groups
  • Educational partnerships with STEM organisations
  • Increased funding for diversity programmes

"This isn't about tokenism," Hamilton emphasised. "It's about creating equal opportunities for talented people who've been excluded for too long."

The debate continues to divide the F1 community, with many younger drivers and team members supporting Hamilton's stance while some older figures resist change.
