Former Formula One driver Nicholas Latifi has launched his own tequila brand, Leve Agave Spirit, after completing an MBA at London Business School. The Canadian, who raced for Williams from 2020 to 2022, co-founded the venture with two classmates from the programme.
Latifi is best known for his crash at the 2021 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, which inadvertently led to Lewis Hamilton losing the world championship. The safety car caused by his accident allowed Max Verstappen to overtake Hamilton on fresher tyres and claim the title. Latifi later apologised, saying: 'It was never my intention, and I can only apologise for influencing and creating an opportunity.'
After being replaced by Logan Sargeant at the end of 2022, Latifi abandoned motorsport and enrolled at London Business School in 2023, graduating with an MBA in 2025. He then launched Leve, a mid-strength agave spirit (22% ABV), described as a 'lighter, smoother, more modern way of drinking'.
Latifi's father, Michael Latifi, is a billionaire businessman who founded meat processing firm Sofina Foods and owns a 10% stake in the McLaren Group. Nicholas stands to inherit his father's wealth, which includes a £160m yacht and a former Ferrari of Michael Schumacher.
