Esteban Ocon has already found a new team for next season after revealing he will not stay at Haas beyond the current campaign. The experienced Frenchman recently declared himself a free agent for 2027, ending his two-year stint with the American outfit.
According to formule1.nl, Ocon has agreed to join the Toyota factory team in the World Endurance Championship (WEC). The move will see him race alongside former F1 drivers including Kamui Kobayashi, who also serves as team principal, as well as Nyck de Vries, Sebastien Buemi and Brendon Hartley.
Haas picks Brazilian rookie as replacement
Meanwhile, the report adds that Haas have decided to replace Ocon with Brazilian rookie Rafael Camara, who will partner Oliver Bearman for the 2027 season. A member of the Ferrari driver academy, Camara is currently leading the Formula Two championship after winning last year's Formula Three title.
Camara has already tested with Haas, taking part in a session at Portimao last month, and was described as "very talented" by team principal Ayao Komatsu. Former F2 champion Leonardo Fornaroli and test and reserve driver Ryo Hirakawa also took part in the Portimao test.
Team principal praises test drivers
"Frankly, all three drivers we tested in Portimao did an excellent job," said Komatsu. "So we are in a very favourable position, with so much interest from very talented drivers. We therefore have to analyse the results very carefully."
Ocon moved to Haas after five years at Alpine, finishing 15th in the Drivers' Championship standings at the end of his first season with the American outfit. Announcing his exit ahead of last weekend's Azerbaijan Grand Prix, he said: "At the moment, I'm definitely a free agent for next year. There are things in discussion that are out of my control. There are certain topics that are out of my control. So, I will keep pushing until the end of the year and see how it goes."
Asked if that meant he was speaking to other teams, Ocon replied: "Of course." When pushed if Haas would remain an option for next year, he said: "Let's see."
