Felipe Drugovich has signed with Andretti Formula E for the 2025-26 season, effectively ending his pursuit of a Formula 1 seat. The 2022 Formula 2 champion, who has spent the last three years as a reserve driver for Aston Martin, admitted his long-held ambition was still to race in F1, but with no openings available, he has opted for a fresh challenge.
The 25-year-old Brazilian impressed in practice sessions and tests, occasionally setting faster lap times than Aston Martin's race drivers Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. However, both drivers are contracted until the end of 2025, and with Cadillac already announcing its 2026 line-up, no F1 seat materialised for Drugovich.
“It’s been far too long for me without racing, so I’m incredibly motivated to get back on a racetrack,” Drugovich said. “I’m very thankful to the entire Andretti Global organisation for believing in my potential.” He will partner Jake Dennis, the 2023 Formula E champion, at the team.
Andretti team principal Roger Griffiths praised Drugovich's adaptability and speed. The 2025-26 Formula E season begins in Drugovich's home country, Brazil, with the Sao Paulo ePrix on 6 December, and concludes in London on 16 August.
