A devoted Formula 1 fan who attended the Australian Grand Prix as his final wish has died, his daughter has confirmed. Adrian Young, 30, had been battling pancreatic cancer and passed away on Wednesday, just days after watching the season opener at Albert Park.
Abby Young shared the news on social media, revealing that her father's last wish was to attend one more Australian Grand Prix. 'He lost his battle with pancreatic cancer yesterday,' she wrote, alongside photos of Adrian at the circuit.
Adrian, a long-time fan of Williams and Carlos Sainz, had been attending the Australian Grand Prix since 1996. He saw Alex Albon finish fifth in Melbourne, while Sainz crashed out. The race was won by Lando Norris.
The Australian Grand Prix's official account paid tribute, stating: 'We feel honoured to have played a part in Adrian's life and to have him choose to spend his final days surrounded by family at Albert Park.'
Fans also expressed condolences, with one writing: 'Sending so much endless love to his family, thank you for giving his story a platform.' Another added: 'So glad Adrian got to watch that race.'
