George Russell will start the Singapore Grand Prix from the back of the grid after the stewards confirmed his punishment.
Reason for the penalty
The Brit requires new engine parts this weekend after his power unit failure in Malaysia last Sunday. However, the new parts go beyond his annual allocation, triggering automatic grid penalties.
Those have now been confirmed, and so the Brit knows he will be starting from the very back of the grid at the Marina Bay Circuit.
Impact on the race
The 40-place penalty effectively guarantees Russell will line up last for Sunday's race, a significant setback for the Mercedes driver.
