Patrick Dorgu is the latest addition to the list of injured Manchester United players after he was forced off early in Denmark’s Nations League clash with Wales.
Dorgu got the nod on the right flank as Wales visited Copenhagen, but he lasted just half an hour before coming off. Denmark were in the ascendancy as they pushed to open the scoring, but had their momentum stemmed when Dorgu went down to receive treatment with 30 minutes played.
Withdrawn at half-hour mark
He was subsequently withdrawn and limped straight down the tunnel, to be replaced by Reims’ Mohamed Daramy. The nature and severity of his problem are not yet clear, with Brian Riemer expected to give an update on his condition at full-time.
It is yet another unneeded setback for United, who are already without a number of first-team players through injury. Marcus Rashford and Kobbie Mainoo both withdrew from England’s squad for this international break, citing injury, as did Benjamin Sesko, who remains in recovery from a long-standing shin problem.
Growing treatment table at Old Trafford
Bruno Fernandes picked up an injury while representing Portugal last week, while Amad Diallo and Matthijs de Ligt were not called up to represent their nations as they recover from pre-existing issues.
United can ill afford the injuries, with Michael Carrick under pressure to start delivering results after a slow start to the season. He came into the international break with United 12th in the Premier League, having taken five points from five matches, and already out of the Carabao Cup.
Pivotal run of fixtures ahead
Matches against Tottenham, Atletico Madrid and Leeds could prove pivotal for his season, and he will hope to have as many men available as possible as he faces them.
