Britain's Jack Draper has withdrawn from the upcoming US Open as his torrid injury luck continues. The 24-year-old has been struggling with bone bruising in his left arm for the last year and has dropped outside of the top 140 after spending the better part of a year on the sidelines.
Injury nightmare continues
Draper, who was formerly ranked world No. 4, also missed Wimbledon due to his ongoing arm injury. The Sutton-born star returned at the Canadian Open, where he broke down in tears during the latter stages of his first-round defeat to Terence Atmane.
Draper then lost to Martin Landaluce in the first round of the Cincinnati Open, dropping the last five games in a row to bow out 6-3 7-5.
US Open qualification hopes dashed
Draper's ranking was not high enough to reach the main draw of the US Open, and he was expected to go through the qualifying rounds next week unless he was given one of the remaining two main draw wildcards.
Return date unknown
It is currently not known when Draper will return to competition, but he has not been named in Britain's Davis Cup squad for their tie in London in September.
