Bakayoko training with Celtic as free agent eyes move

Tiemoue Bakayoko has reportedly been training with Celtic as he attempts to win a deal with the Scottish champions.

The former Chelsea and AC Milan midfielder has been without a club since leaving PAOK in January 2025. Sky Sports state that the France international has been training with the Scottish champions over the last couple of weeks, with the Premiership in cold storage during the international break.

Celtic's January plans

Celtic has explored the possibility of bringing in the 32-year-old in January - but would instead bring in Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to add experience to the midfield engine room. Reports in France at the time suggested an 18-month deal was on the table for Bakayoko, but a move failed to get off the ground.

Career wilderness

The former £40million man - who has lifted the Ligue 1 trophy with Monaco, the Serie A gong with Milan as well as the FA Cup during his time at Stamford Bridge - has been stuck in the football wilderness after his time at Chelsea turned sour. Milan failed to make his loan switch to the club permanent in 2024, leading to ill-fated moves to Lorient and PAOK after his release from the Premier League giants.

Speaking earlier this year, Bakayoko has already expressed he is keen to get back into the game. He said: “The transfer window? There are some things coming about my future. I am feeling 100 per cent ready for the next challenge. I miss football a lot.”
