An American man has given his honest verdict on England football fans as they 'take over' the United States for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The England team arrived in America hoping to end 60 years of hurt by lifting the trophy.
England's Opening Victory
The Three Lions played their opening fixture against Croatia at Dallas Stadium on June 18, securing a 4-2 victory with a remarkable attacking performance. Thousands of dedicated England supporters made the long trip to the US to cheer on their team.
American's Six-Word Assessment
Casey Settleman, an influencer known as the 'Soccer guy' for Snapback Sports, shared his first impression of the England fans on Instagram. With over 30,000 followers, he said: "First impression of the England fans here in Dallas... This is going to be insane."
Settleman claimed the England supporters "completely took over Texas" and predicted it would be "by far going to be the best fan experience" he has ever encountered. He asked around 10-12 fans what he needed to do to be a true England supporter, and they told him to "get on the beers."
Despite initially planning to avoid alcohol during the World Cup to "stay healthy," Settleman admitted the atmosphere was "too infectious" to resist. He said: "So I'm getting on the booze, and I'm joining the England fans for the day." He added that they could set the bar so high that this might be the best experience of his entire 34-game journey.
In his caption, he wrote: "The England fans came here to prove why they are the best fans at the World Cup." The post garnered over 10,000 likes.
Fan Reactions
One commenter agreed: "England and Scotland fans are the best from Europe by far." Another said: "Cheers! It's coming home!" A third added: "Enjoy the show - England know how to party." One joked: "If both Scotland and England get past the quarterfinals, there will be no beer left in the US, never mind the city."
Next Match
England and their supporters now have several days to prepare for their next World Cup match against Ghana on Tuesday, June 23. The game will be broadcast in the UK on BBC One at 9pm BST.
