Spain's Fabian Ruiz mocked France's Michael Olise in a brutal dressing room comment after Spain's 2-0 World Cup semi-final victory over France on Tuesday night. In a video released by the official Spain social media account, Ruiz is heard telling teammate Marc Cucurella: "You devoured him. Take him out of your pocket."
Spain's victory and celebrations
Goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro secured Spain's place in Sunday's final, where they will face either England or Argentina. The video showed players eating pizza, dancing, and taking selfies. Cucurella called the performance a "masterclass."
Olise's quiet game
Olise, who had been a standout performer for France with assists in three of seven games, was unusually quiet. The comment referred to Cucurella's defensive dominance over the Bayern Munich winger.
Dani Olmo noted the team's journey: "It was written in the stars." Despite the loss, France remains in North America for the third-place play-off against the loser of the other semi-final.
