The Reds depart for Chicago on Monday after a week of training at the AXA Training Centre, with fixtures against Sunderland, Wrexham, and Leeds United scheduled over the next fortnight.
Iraola's Style and Expectations
Iraola, who replaced Arne Slot after Liverpool secured Champions League qualification last season, has been tasked with implementing a front-foot, urgent, and aggressive style of play. His previous success at Bournemouth, where he guided the club to their first-ever European qualification, has raised expectations among fans. Unlike a typical new manager, Iraola already has extensive Premier League experience, reducing the need for an adaptation period.
The tour, however, is crucial for players to familiarize themselves with Iraola's demands. For some, it represents a final chance to impress before important transfer window decisions are made.
Players Under the Spotlight
Harvey Elliott, 23, is among those with the most to gain. After a frustrating loan spell at Aston Villa last season, and with many forward options missing or injured, Elliott can expect significant minutes across the frontline and possibly in the number 10 role. He is in the final 12 months of his Anfield contract.
Curtis Jones faces a similar situation regarding his contract. Despite making nearly 50 appearances last season, he was not a regular starter in midfield. With Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch absent, Jones has an opportunity to demonstrate his fit in Iraola's system.
Jeremie Frimpong will aim to rebound from underwhelming end-of-season form and his omission from the Netherlands' World Cup squad. Kostas Tsimikas, returning from a loan at Roma, can remind the coaching staff of his left-back credentials, with competition needed for Milos Kerkez.
New signing Jeremy Jacquet, who missed the latter months of last season at Rennes due to shoulder surgery, can build match fitness and strengthen his case to start alongside Virgil van Dijk at centre-back. However, with Giovanni Leoni still recovering from an ACL injury, Joe Gomez is currently favored to partner van Dijk against Newcastle United on August 23.

Defender Joe Gomez emphasized the significance of the tour, stating: "It's definitely a chance to build a foundation that can give you such a good base for the season. I think in that regard it's hard to state how important it is. Everyone deals with it differently, but it is important for us all."
Gomez also noted the high morale at the training ground, attributing it to the new manager and a good break. "He seems like a really nice guy. It's obviously massively impressive what he did at Bournemouth and how he got them to perform. I think we're all looking forward to it and we're all excited to have him. We're all hungry and excited to go."
Tour Schedule and Squad
Liverpool will face Sunderland in Nashville on Saturday, then Wrexham in New York in the early hours of Thursday morning UK time, before concluding against Leeds United in Chicago the following Sunday. The senior squad will be supplemented by Academy players, as most of Liverpool's World Cup participants—including finalists Alexis Mac Allister and Victor Munoz—are unlikely to join until later in the tour.
