Masters Unveils New Player Services Building with Exclusive Locker Room
Augusta National has released the first photos of its new Player Services Building, offering players a locker room unlike any other in sports. This facility, designed to elevate the Masters experience, includes luxury amenities and historical touches that have already impressed stars like Rory McIlroy.
A First Look at the Player Services Building
The three-story building, discreetly nestled among trees behind the practice range, blends seamlessly with Augusta National's iconic landscape. Players enter via a tunnel under Magnolia Lane into an underground garage, where a corridor showcases Alister MacKenzie's architectural cross-sections of every hole at the course.
McIlroy, who recently visited, praised the building as "IN-CREDIBLE," noting that while champions will still use the exclusive Champions Locker Room, this new space is equally impressive. The ground floor features a locker room with 100 lockers, each equipped with a safe, phone-charging shelf, and a gold-plated Masters emblem on the handle.
Historical Tributes and Luxury Amenities
Upon arrival, players are greeted by framed letters from golf legends Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods, with Woods' note dating back to his 1997 victory. A lounge dedicated to co-founder Bobby Jones displays all four trophies from his 1930 Grand Slam, on loan from the Atlanta Athletic Club.
The locker room includes a sitting area with tables made from magnolia wood salvaged after Hurricane Helene in 2024, and Masters stationery for inspired players. As they exit, photos of recent winning moments line the hallway, ending with McIlroy's 2026 playoff victory, and a camera is installed for television broadcasts, similar to Grand Slam tennis events.
State-of-the-Art Fitness and Recovery Facilities
Downstairs, a modern fitness center features stretching areas, weights, and a concrete wall for medicine ball exercises—a welcome upgrade from the makeshift cart barn setup where McIlroy once accidentally damaged a wall. The recovery room offers three cold plunges, a hot tub, a sauna, and 16 therapy tables.
Another hallway showcases over 1,400 name plates of every Masters competitor, adding to the historical ambiance. The top floor houses the Magnolia Dining Room, seating 150 indoors and 150 more on a terrace overlooking the practice grounds, complete with a menu, buffet, bar, and televisions.
Exclusive Access and Future Impact
The Player Services Building is reserved for players, their families, coaches, caddies, and support teams, with no access for the public, press, or agents. Masters chairman Fred Ridley described it as an "improvement" offering facilities "unlike anything in sports," aiming to pamper competitors from arrival to departure.
This enhancement underscores Augusta National's commitment to blending tradition with innovation, ensuring the Masters remains a pinnacle event in golf while providing unparalleled convenience and luxury for its participants.
