Sunderland midfielder Enzo Le Fee showcased his ambition to be among the best in his position after a standout performance against Liverpool at Geodis Park.
Long-range strike
Le Fee played through the middle and scored a spectacular left-footed strike from distance against the Reds.
On playing in central midfield and scoring, he told safc.com: “Since the end of last season, I’ve been playing in the same position so I think it helps me a lot to always be in the same position.
“I like to be in the middle, have the ball and control the tempo. I want to be one of the best players in this position but I have to work even more than I already do.
“It’s always nice to score. I don’t always score a lot but I want to score more this season. It starts with the first game.
“It’s always good and it was a good goal as well so it was always nice.”
Team performance
Regis Le Bris’ side put in a valiant effort in both halves against Andoni Iraola’s Liverpool despite a 4-2 defeat. Le Fee’s goal was followed by Timur Tutierov’s second-half strike.
Le Fee emphasised the strong performance in tough conditions, noting the Tennessee heat.
“It was tough because it was really hot but I think it was really important to play in this temperature because when we go back, it’ll be easier,” he added.
“I think we did well and it was a really good first half. Even the second half, the young players did good things as well and scored a really good goal so we keep going for pre-season.”
