Keegan Bradley named US Ryder Cup captain after Tiger Woods rejects offer

The PGA of America has announced Keegan Bradley as the US captain for the 2025 Ryder Cup, following months of negotiations with Tiger Woods, who ultimately declined the role. The decision was revealed on Monday via Instagram as news of Bradley's selection leaked earlier in the day.

Bradley, who has played in only two Ryder Cups, expressed his honour at leading the team at Bethpage Black in New York. 'I am incredibly honoured to accept this opportunity to captain the United States team at the 2025 Ryder Cup,' he said in a statement. 'My passion and appreciation for golf’s greatest team event have never been stronger.'

Woods was the committee's first choice but could not commit to the extensive promotional duties. The PGA of America then turned to Bradley, a New England native who played college golf at St John's in New York. Bradley participated in the 2012 and 2014 Ryder Cups, both US losses, and holds a 4-3-0 record overall.

The 38-year-old, who won the 2011 PGA Championship, was left off the 2023 US team, a disappointment he said fuelled his desire to be involved. He is currently in New York for media training and is expected to hold a press conference on Tuesday.
