Jude Bellingham Is England's Main Man at World Cup, Tuchel Wants More
Jude Bellingham: England's Star, Tuchel Demands More

Jude Bellingham scored the opening goal and provided the assist for Harry Kane as England beat Panama 2-0 in their final World Cup group stage match. Manager Thomas Tuchel praised Bellingham's contribution but stressed the need for continued improvement from the 22-year-old if England are to go deep in the tournament.

Bellingham's Match-Winning Performance

Bellingham headed in Bukayo Saka's corner in the first half before setting up Kane's second-half strike that sealed the victory. The goal marked Bellingham's third of the tournament, making him England's joint-top scorer alongside Kane. Tuchel said: 'He was very positive from the first day in camp. He buys fully into all the things we demand as a team player, and then he brings his own individual quality to decide football games.'

Tuchel's 'Tough Love' Approach

Tuchel has employed a 'tough love' strategy to get the best from Bellingham, pushing him to fit into the team ethic. 'It is what we want from him,' Tuchel added. 'That's what you see in World Cups now, and what you see from other teams and other big players. We have it in him and he's a key player.' Bellingham has scored crucial goals for England before, including the overhead kick against Slovakia at Euro 2024 and the opener against Iran at the 2022 World Cup.

Team Effort Required

Tuchel insisted England cannot rely solely on Bellingham or Kane, who now has three goals in the tournament and surpassed Gary Lineker's World Cup record. 'If you look carefully, sometimes it's just a run from someone else to open the space up for Jude so that he can shine,' Tuchel said. 'We have to work in patterns and in units to have a higher amount of attacking threat.' He highlighted Nico O'Reilly's run that created space for Bellingham's first-half chance.

England's World Cup Campaign

England topped their group and will face DR Congo in the last 32. Bellingham, who turns 23 on Monday, has been a standout performer alongside Kane. His ability to seize key moments has drawn comparisons to Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Vinicius Junior. 'The great players elevate their team to a different level,' noted the report, 'and that is exactly what Bellingham is doing for England right now.'
