Anthony Gordon has impressed for England during the international break, and part of that success is down to the gruelling work Barcelona boss Hansi Flick implements in training. The German head coach has built a reputation for putting his stars through their paces, and former Barcelona star Pau Victor says he left some sessions 'feeling dizzy.'
Flick's intense methods confirmed
Speaking to Que T'hi Jugues, Victor said: "Flick is very intense. I used to leave his training sessions feeling dizzy. There are videos where you can see me and Gavi lying on the ground with our legs in the air. All the fame he has for being tough and demanding is completely true."
Gordon was one of the standout performers for Thomas Tuchel's Three Lions during the recent international break. He may not have hit the ground running in terms of goals for Barcelona, but his performances have attracted plenty of plaudits in his first few months at the club.
Gordon's adaptation to Barcelona
The former Newcastle United winger has already revealed that the transition to playing under Flick has been helped by Newcastle's similar style of play under Eddie Howe. Speaking about the move, Gordon told Sport: "I've made many runs throughout my career that no one saw, but now I have Pedri, who sees absolutely everything."
He added: "Adapting has been relatively easy because at Newcastle we already played a similar style – pressing hard and attacking with the team pushed high up the pitch. With the ball as well, now I play surrounded by some of the best footballers in the world. The best Barca side I've ever seen is Pep Guardiola's – the one that won the Champions League with players like Xavi and Andres Iniesta. I want this team to be remembered forever."
