An astrologer has warned that England's 2026 World Cup last-16 match against DR Congo could be 'chaotic' due to the onset of Mercury retrograde. Speaking to tarot platform Tarotoo, Inbaal Honigman said the celestial event, which began on June 29, will make Wednesday's fixture 'different' from the group stage encounters.
Mercury retrograde effect
Honigman explained that Mercury retrograde, an astrological phenomenon where the planet appears to move backwards in the sky for three to four weeks, typically disrupts communication. 'During those Mercury retrograde times, Virgo and Gemini star signs feel the effects more than most,' she said, adding that England players Bukayo Saka, John Stones, and Jordan Henderson may struggle.
'It is a time during which communication is a struggle, so England's tactical game could suffer and become more chaotic,' Honigman warned. However, she noted that the influence affects both teams, meaning DR Congo will also face challenges.
Past stars to shine
Honigman predicted that 'stars of yesteryear like Harry Kane will have their chance to shine brightly' as the retrograde brings the past into the present. She also pointed to Jupiter moving into Leo, bringing luck to Leo-born players such as Morgan Rogers, Djed Spence, and Harry Kane. 'His contribution to the game will be above expectation,' she said of Kane.
England face DR Congo in the knockout stage on Wednesday evening, with the match set to kick off at 7pm BST.
