England striker Ellen White scored twice as Birmingham City Ladies beat title-chasing Manchester City 2-0 in Women's Super League One, ending City's 23-match unbeaten run.
The Blues, knocked out of the FA Cup by Nick Cushing's side on Sunday, took the lead when White latched onto a loose ball and fired past Ellie Roebuck. White doubled the lead after the break, stabbing in Emma Follis' cross.
The visitors could have reduced the deficit in stoppage time, but Jill Scott's header came back off the bar. Manchester City fall to second in the table after their first defeat of the season, but they can climb above leaders Chelsea with victory against Emma Hayes' team on Saturday.
The defeat is City's first in any competition since May 2017, ending a run of 23 games without loss, of which they had won a remarkable 22. Birmingham are up to fifth in the league, the victory lifting them ahead of Reading and Sunderland.
