Webb Apologises to Forest Over Handball Mistake

Referees' chief Howard Webb has apologised to Nottingham Forest over Bryan Mbeumo's handball in the lead-up to Manchester United's goal against the side on Sunday.

Forest head coach Vitor Pereira was left incensed by the decision to allow the goal to stand despite referee Michael Salisbury having been sent to the monitor by VAR.

Mbeumo had clearly handled the ball during the build-up to Matheus Cunha's goal, which restored United's lead in the tie at Old Trafford.

On Monday, PGMO chief Webb contacted Forest to discuss the incident and acknowledged that Salisbury made the wrong call in allowing the goal to stand.

Bryan Mbeumo appeared to handle the ball just moments before Matheus Cunha's strike. Michael Salisbury stood by his initial decision of goal despite VAR recommending to overturn it.
