Today co-host Lisa Wilkinson became emotional on live television Monday morning as she paid tribute to her colleague Sylvia Jeffreys, who recently announced her engagement to Channel Nine journalist Peter Stefanovic.
Wilkinson, 56, called Jeffreys an 'extraordinary woman' and declared the couple were 'meant to be together' as Jeffreys spoke to the Today panel via phone from Europe, where the proposal took place.
Jeffreys, 30, revealed on Instagram that Stefanovic, the younger brother of Today co-anchor Karl Stefanovic, proposed while they were on holiday in France and Italy a couple of weeks ago.
During the segment, Jeffreys asked Wilkinson for marriage advice, specifically about what to do when her partner is watching football. Wilkinson replied, 'That's when you and I go out for the night! We just leave them to the football, Sylvia. I've got another footy widow, mate.'
The tribute comes after rumours earlier this year of a feud between the two women, which were denied by their agent Nick Fordham, who said, 'Quite the opposite in fact, they really like each other.'
