Vinicius Junior is poised to commit his future to Real Madrid by signing a new contract, ending speculation of a record-breaking transfer to Saudi Arabia. The Brazilian forward, who had been linked with a £200 million move to the Middle East, is now expected to extend his stay at the Santiago Bernabéu until the summer of 2030.
The 24-year-old has established himself as one of the world's best players since joining from Flamengo, scoring 105 goals and providing 79 assists. His performances attracted interest from the Saudi Pro League, with reports of a five-year deal worth £830 million that would have included an ambassador role for the 2034 World Cup.
However, Vinicius has consistently expressed his desire to remain at Real Madrid and carve out his place in the club's history. According to Marca, an agreement is close and the player is ready to put pen to paper, with both parties on the same page.
Speaking last month, Vinicius said: 'I am very calm because my contract lasts until 2027 and I hope to renew as soon as possible because I am happy here. I am living the dream of playing with the best players, the best coach, the best president, the best fans. I want to win much more and make it into the history of the club.'
Real manager Carlo Ancelotti echoed those sentiments in February, stating: 'I see him happy and we are happy with him. He is eager to do things well and make history with the club.' The new deal would see Vinicius remain at Real Madrid until 2030, ending any immediate prospect of a big-money move to Saudi Arabia.
