Sarah Berry, a 54-year-old described as a highly experienced and competent rider, tragically lost her life after a fall during a hunt with the Mendip Farmers' Hunt.
The incident, which occurred on a private farm in the picturesque village of Chewton Mendip, was described to the coroner's court in Taunton. Despite her extensive experience and wearing all appropriate safety gear, including a riding hat, Ms. Berry fell from her horse while navigating the rural terrain.

Emergency services, including an air ambulance, rushed to the scene in a desperate attempt to save her. Tragically, Ms. Berry was pronounced dead at Southmead Hospital in Bristol later that day. The medical cause of death was confirmed as a severe traumatic head injury.
Coroner Samantha Marsh recorded a conclusion of death as a result of an accident, noting that there was no evidence of any mechanical failure with her equipment or any underlying medical condition that could have contributed to the tragic event.
